What to expect at your first treatment?

A typical cosmetic acupuncture session takes 1.5 hours. Depending on the skin concern, the number of needles used can vary from 10 – 30 per session. During needle retention, there might be some tightening or warming sensation around the needle site. Chinese medicine theory incorporates a holistic approach. Therefore, a selection of body acupuncture points may also be used during the treatment to enhance the results.

Does it hurt?

Cosmetic acupuncture should not hurt. You may feel a slight momentary discomfort with the acupuncture but it is not painful. Some people experience mild redness, but this usually resolves after 30 minutes. Our cosmetic acupuncturist Dr Joey Chung is registered with AHPRA.
